James J. Higgins
Retired

James Higgins, a former Far Rockaway resident, died March10.

He was 84.

Higgins was born in Far Rockaway and lived there for 45 years before moving to Inwood. He attended St. Mary's School and Far Rockaway High School. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. He was also a retired New York State Supreme Court clerk.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian (nee Matlock); children, James C., Christine Riley (Thomas) and Stephen (Lynn); grandchildren, Finn Tomas Higgins, Mary Kate and Eamon James Riley; and brother, Edward Higgins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Meserole Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Church. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in North Lawrence, New York.
