He served in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a fleet maintenance supervisor. He is survived by his son, Jack Ellis Jr. (Donna); daughters, Carla Ellis and Gail Lax (Adam); grandchildren, Shannon Lax, Danielle, Nick, Charlie and Joe Ellis; and friend, Helen Lovoi.
Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Services were held at St. Thomas More Church. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
