Catherine A.Marks
Educator

Catherine Marks (nee Mitchell), a former Belle Harbor resident, died January 14.

Marks was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1934. In 1951 she came to the United States to attend college. She taught for 30 years in Catholic schools in Pennsylvania, the Bronx and Queens. She also taught for 10 years in the NYC public school system. Her last assignment was at PS 114. Marks, a member of the Quilters Club at St. Francis de Sales Church, lived in Belle Harbor for 22 years before retiring to Florida.

She is survived by her husband, James V. Marks; brother, Sean Mitchell (Kay); two nieces; one nephew; two grandnieces; brothers-in-law, Alfred W. and Roger M. Marks; sister-in-law, Martina McCartney; and 58 nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Afuneral mass was celebrated at St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in North Fort Myers, Florida.
