Vernie Cecila English
Far Rockaway Resident

Vernie English, a longtime Far Rockaway resident, died February 21.

English was born in Guyana, South America on March 24, 1935. According to family, she was known as "Bun Lady," because she was well known for making buns.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Elwida English.

English is survived by her daughter, Julia Cockfield (David); son, Elton Obermuller; grandchildren, Melissa and David Cockfield Jr., and Odetta Jones; great-grandson, David Cockfield III; brother, Rickford; sisters-inlaw, Ivy and Hyacenth English; numerous family members; and the Battalion Pentacostal Assembly Church family.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at the Battalion Pentacostal Assembly Church. Interment was at Amityville Cemetery in Amityville, New York.
