PHC Hosts Successful Blood Drive
Race to Give Blood at Peninsula Hospital Center

Staff of Peninsula Hospital Center, Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (PCECR), and participants from the community lined up all day to donate much - needed blood in the Meditation Room of PCECR on Monday, February 25. Sara Berger of the PHC Auxiliary, as always, staffed the volunteer sign-in and nourishment tables. The quarterly blood drive is held in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services and New York Blood Center. Shown in photo, donating the much-needed gift of life is Helen Beniquez, PHC Occupational Therapy Aide, ably assisted by Edna Miranda, Donor Specialist from New York Blood Center. Peninsula Hospital Center Vice President Allen Corby was very pleased with the successful turnout for this drive. According to Corby, this drive collected more than double the amount of blood that was donated during the last quarterly blood drive. He credits it to the in-house donation captains who worked so diligently to make this week's drive such a success. Plans are already in the works for another hospital center based blood drive this summer. Anyone needing information about upcoming blood drives can contact 718- 734-2506.
