'Operation Protect Your Home'Helps Homeowners

Senate Democrats are encouraging all homeowners struggling to make mortgage payments or those who are at risk of defaulting on their mortgage, to participate in "Operation Protect Your Home."

The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Campus Magnet High School, located at 207-01 116 Avenue in Cambria Heights.

At the Queens forums, mortgage lenders and counselors will work individually with borrowers on identifying potential ways of preventing unnecessary foreclosures. The meetings are free and open to the public. However, invited borrowers whose mortgages are scheduled to reset, or borrowers who are already late in their mortgage payments will have priority.

Operation Protect Your Home is a joint effort among the New York State Senate Democratic Conference, the New York State Banking Department, and mortgage servicing companies. The Queens forum is sponsored by Senators Shirley Huntley, George Onorato, John Sabini, Malcolm A. Smith, and Toby Ann Stavisky.
