CO:Drug Dealers Move To Seagirt Blvd.,OV
"There's a lot of [drug] activity on Seagirt [Boulevard]," said McMahon at last week's Precinct Community Council meeting. "There's so much [dealing of] drugs on Seagirt because people from Long Beach come over, and it's a quick turnaround to have them go back home. So, [precinct police officers] have been down there a lot." The captain also attributes the increased drug business to the newlyconstructed housing and the people who have moved into the area. "There's an increased chance for drug activity [around] Beach 29 Street and where the laundromat is," said Mc- Mahon. "There are a lot of resources going in there." In addition to the increase in drug activity on Seagirt Boulevard, Ocean Village, called OV by many local residents, on Beach 56 Street is experiencing an increase in drug related problems as well, according to McMahon. "[Ocean Village is] going through a transition where they're throwing a lot of people out," said McMahon. "So, with a lot of vacant apartments, a lot of people go over there now and hang out and use drugs out of there."
Two officers have been assigned to the OV apartment complex in response to the drug activity.
