Screaming Orphans Headline Rugby St.Pat's Party

The Screaming Orphans will be one of the guest singers at the annual Rockaway Rugby Club St. Patrick's Day Parade bash on March 1. The sisters were raised in an orphanage before moving in with their American born mother.
March 1st's St. Patrick's Day Parade celebration will reach new heights at the Rugby Club this year.

After the conclusion of Rockaway's St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Fisheads will put forth an incredible Irish music extravaganza featuring two of the most popular Irish rock bands on the east coast.

All-time crowd favorites Shilelagh Law will again be the featured entertainment at the Rockaway Rugby Club, starting promptly at 3 p.m. Following them will be the internationally known Screaming Orphans from County Donegal, Ireland.

The Orphans are four sisters who have recorded with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Macy Gray, The Chieftans, Joni Mitchell and Sinead O'Connor.

The women, who range from 26 to 31 years old, have traveled throughout the world. They got their first big break in the late 1990's working with Sinead O' Connor in her musical tour of the United States. Grainne, Joan, Angel and Marie Therese Diver all sing and play instruments ranging from the drums to violin.

They have appeared on the David Letterman show, sung at home games for the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins and have recently relocated to New York City.

Ending the evening of music will be local favorites Wine with Sue led by neighborhood icon Don Sautner.

The Rockaway Rugby Club is located on Beach 113 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.
