Leonard Perlmutter
Veteran

Leonard Perlmutter, a former Rockaway resident, died February 3. He was 88.

Perlmutter was born in Brooklyn. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the United States Postal Service, in the Far Rockaway office, for 30 years before retiring in 1979. Perlmutter was the president of his local union, a member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Knights of Pythias, Oceanside Lodge 827.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold.

Perlmutter is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winafred; brothers, Oscar and David (Audrey); daughters, Alice Kazin (Gary) and Patricia; son, Mark (Ilene); grandchildren, Felicia and Perry Kazin and Hayley and Kara Perlmutter; and six nieces and nephews.
