William E. Johnson
Firefighter

William Johnson, a 13-year Rockaway resident, died February 8.

Johnson was born in Brooklyn. He served his country in the United States Navy Reserve from 1954 to 1958. He retired from the FDNY, where he was a fireman with Engine 248 in Brooklyn. He was also a member of the American Legion, Daniel M. O'Connell Post.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mae V. Dugan

Johnson is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Lawson; niece, Susan Bigley (Timothy M.); and grandnephews, Robert Joseph and Michael Timothy.

Funeral arrangements and visitation were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A service was held at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment was at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
