Heavy Winds Blow Down Beach 97 Street Scaffolding

Heavy winds on Sunday night blew down a construction fence and scaffolding on a building under construction on Beach 97 Street, between Shore Front Parkway and Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 6 p.m. on February 10 to secure the scaffolding. No one was hurt.
The construction fence around the property, as well as the scaffolding protecting the building, were blown down by the heavy winds. It took responders about 25 minutes to secure the scene and reopen the street to traffic. Photos by Howard Schwach.
