Dramatic Season Finale For Rockaway Theatre Company

A confectionary season tribute
Actors, singers, dancers, musicians, artists, technicians and volunteers gathered at El Caribe Country Caterers on Friday, January 25, to celebrate the end of the Rockaway Theatre Company's 10th season of bringing "quality entertainment to the people in Rockaway."

The highlight of the evening was the dessert, a unique cake created by Cynthia Peithman, pastry chef and CEO of Cakeline, Inc., which featured detailed decorations that represented all of the RTC productions of past seasons.

Partygoers spent the evening dancing to music of deejay, August Michael. Peggy Page, who created the 10th anniversary centerpieces with a team of crafty volunteers, said "we do this big party at the end of every season, to thank all the wonderful people who are the backbone of our organization and are really responsible for our success."

During the event, artistic director, John Gilleece, announced the impending retirement of Sal Trento, a founding

member of the RTC. His position on the Executive Board will be filled by Jodee Timpone.

With the festivities done, members of the Rockaway Theatre Company are back at work, gearing up for the 2008 theatrical season. The season will begin with the sentimental musical classic, Annie, opening on May 2. The performance will be followed by The Music Man. In addition, Rockaway Café '08, The Philadelphia Story and Neil Simon's Prisoner of Second Avenue are also the RTC menu. All of the theatrical presentations are performed at Fort Tilden.
