Investigation Continues Into Select Dental Closing

Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer says that she has received numerous complaints from patients of the Select Dental Office located on Cross Bay Boulevard which closed their doors in mid-November.

Currently, Pheffer says, the U.S. Department of Secret Service is actively investigating Select Dental. The Department now has custody of all Select Dental's patient records. Pheffer urges anybody who was a patient at the dental office to obtain a copy of his or her records, to call Agent Wheeler at (312) 886-4196 and to identify him or herself as a Select Dental patient.

In addition, Pheffer has been in contact with the New York State Department of Education Office of Professional Discipline. They are also conducting an investigation questioning the actions and practices of Select Dental. Anyone who wishes to file a complaint with the department may contact them at 718-794-2457.

The Queens District Attorney, Richard Brown, is also conducting an investigation into this matter and victims should contact the District Attorney's Economic Crime Bureau at 718-286-6673.

Unfortunately, she says, it appears that Select Dental was already the subject of a Federal investigation due to related actions in several other States.

"Select Dental has created a terrible situation for hundreds of residents in our area. I am working diligently with all those involved to assure that this case is resolved properly and that any harm done to patients of Select Dental, medically and financially, is addressed," said Pheffer. Additionally, many people who received service from Select Dental were being billed through Care Credit.

Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer has been assured by Care Credit that these bills are now being reviewed.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding their billing, should contact Care Credit directly at 866- 893-7864 and identify the disputed bill as a "Select Dental" bill as all such bills have been red flagged.
