St.Saviour High School Varsity Basketball

The St. Saviour High School Varsity Basketball Team improved to a Division II league best record of 9-0 and 10 - 3 overall as they just finished playing four games in six days. The Pandas continue to hold onto first place in the division as they head into the midterm exam break.

The St. Saviour squad lost two nonleague encounters to St. Joseph by the Sea High School and Poly Prep but defeated league opponents Catherine McAuley by a score of 51-39 and Stella Maris by a score of 42-24.

Leading the team offensively in both games were Alyson Caiazzo with 18 points against McAuley and 11 points against Stella Maris. Rosemary Burke of Breezy Point had 13 points against McAuley and 9 points against Stella.

The Pandas continue to play a tough aggressive defense, to which Coach Atanasio attributes, the team's success throughout the season.

The team will be back in action on February 4 at home against Catherine McAuley, and will play their last senior home game on February 5 against St. Edmund's Prep.

They will finish the regular season on the road against St. Agnes, St. John's Prep and Bishop Loughlin.
