Pit Bull Attack
Dear Editor,

I wish to advise the local community of Broad Channel about a dog attack. The old Broad Channel Day Camp (now a new city park) is an area commonly used by dog walkers. While walking my dog from the park's parking lot via Shad Creek Road to West 20 Road, my dog and I were attacked by a pit bull that ran out of a driveway at 11 West 20 Road. The property is unfenced and the dog was unrestrained in any fashion. The pit bull ran at us and grabbed my dog by the throat and jaw, and while trying to help my dog, I was bitten on the left hand. My dog survived but suffered punctures and a ripped jaw. The pit bull's owner saw the attack and was unable to re-call the dog even with her attempt at physical intervention.

This attack occurred on January 8, at 4:25 p.m. A report was filed with the police, as well as the city Animal Bite Unit. I made this notification in hopes of preventing other dogs and their owners from suffering as we did.
