Cops ID Beach 44 Street DOA
By Howard Schwach
Police sources told The Wave on Wednesday that the body found under the subway station on Beach 44 Street on Monday, January 14, was Radgas Binea, a 30-year-old Rockaway resident.

The body, now identified as Radgas Binea of Rockaway, lies under a sheet under the Beach 44 Street subway platform on January 14. His cause of death has not yet been determined, but police sources say that they have ruled out homicide as the cause.
Those sources said that the possibility of a homicide had been ruled out in Binea's death and that his death had officially been reclassified as "undetermined, pending investigation."

A spokesperson for the Medical Examiner's Office said, however, that tests are ongoing as to Binea's cause of death and that no official determination would be made until the toxicology screening is concluded sometime in the next week to ten days.

A subway rider rushing to work on January 14 spotted the body lying under the staircase that leads to the subway station and called the emergency 911 system.

Police and emergency medical technicians responded and Binea was declared DOA at the scene.

At the time, detectives told The Wave that the body had suffered blunt force trauma, but it was unclear whether the death was a homicide or an accident.
