Broad Channel Motor Vehicle Accident Leaves Mystery
Firefighters and EMT's from the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department, officers from the 100 Precinct, and West Hamilton Volunteers were among the first responders who rushed to the scene. Once there, they discovered the demolished wreck of an automobile, but the driver and any evidence of his or her whereabouts had vanished. The initial calls to 911, about an accident involving a 2000 black Nissan, reported that it had smashed into a telephone pole, nearly ripping the pole out from the ground. Reports also added that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. The driver, however, despite having his or her car hit the pole at an excessive speed which demolished the vehicle was then nowhere to be found when rescuers arrived.
Upon arriving at the scene, Responders, who were puzzled by the missing driver, logically believed that he or she must have been thrown from the car. But after hours of searching the surrounding area, they found no trace of anyone near the crash.
