250 Take New Year's Day Plunge

Approximately 250 hardy Rockaway souls braved a chilly Atlantic Ocean at noon on New Year's Day in the annual Rockaway Polar Bear plunge at Beach 146 Street. This year, the weather for the annual event was a balmy 43 degrees and an earlier rainstorm had moved away, setting up perfect conditions for the short swim. For more photos, see page 20.
