Peninsula Hospital Center News
Peninsula Hospital Center and Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (PCECR) have for the past two years been singling out distinctive individuals each month as their Outstanding Employees. These special employees are honored for their high degree of professionalism, respect, initiative and for the dedication and empathy that they routinely demonstrate in the performance of their duties. Laurie Lee was named the November Employee of the Month from Peninsula Hospital Center. She is a switchboard operator assigned to the Hospital Center's Communications Department. Although it is her job to be helpful and courteous, Laurie always goes the extra mile. She is consistently professional in dealing with the public, staff and administration and delivers 100 percent each and every day. She has been with the Hospital Center for more than 20 years and treats those she comes in contact as if they were family and is always pleasant and respectful.
Joyce's attitude is always upbeat and her high spirits contagious. She is highly respected and admired by those for whom she works and by those with whom she works. According to Joyce, her greatest claim to fame, however, are the many Adult Day Health Care registrants who think of her as their own confidante, counselor and friend. Danny McDevitt was named the Hospital Center's December 2007 Employee of the Month. Danny is the Assistant Director of the Respiratory Therapy Department. Danny is described by his peers as an expert in his field and a true gentleman in his treatment of all of his patients and other staff members. He is compassionate, understanding and always, professional in the performance of his duties.
The Employee of the Month Program at Peninsula Hospital Center is designed to recognize employees who consistently exemplify all aspects of PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Initiative, Dedication and Empathy). Kids Get Toys From First Church Of God Pastor Arthur Davenport and his congregation from the First Church of God in Rockaway donate toys for the pediatric patients of Peninsula Hospital Center each holiday season. Under the guidance of PHC Director of Safety, Julie Hassing and PHC Security Director, Michael Valentino, members of the Emergency Command Team practiced procedures to prepare for emergency situations. Regular HEICS (Hospital Emergency Incident Command System) drills are held so that in the event of a true emergency, Hospital Center staff will be prepared to handle any situation which might arise.
