Beat Down And Busted Up At Far Rockaway Bar

The assault took place outside the Central America Restaurant on Central Avenue in Far Rockaway.
Three men have been arrested and arraigned on charges of beating another man in front of a popular Far Rockaway bar/restaurant on Christmas night, police say.

The victim, Manual Martinez, 26, was followed out of the Central America Restaurant, located at 1028 Beach 20 Street, around 8:30 p.m. on December 25, court records show.

Police say that the three suspects allegedly approached Martinez and severely beat him on the street in front of the restaurant.

The defendants, all from Far Rockaway, were identified by a spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown as Jose Juan, 25; Ernesto Nelson, 24; and Flores Oseguera, 30. Each of them has been charged with second degree assault and weapons possession, according to the District Attorney's spokesperson.

The victim was taken to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Martinez told police that all three defendants repeatedly kicked and punched him and one of them even took a bottle and knocked out two of Martinez's teeth.

Bail was set at $3,500 for Juan, who reportedly used the bottle on Martinez. Nelson and Oseguera were released on their own recognizance.

All three are due back in court in the near future.

When The Wave contacted a spokesperson for the Central America Restaurant about the incident, the person who answered the telephone at the establishment declined to comment, stating, "I am not giving you any information."
