Dear Editor, Each year during the holiday season I am amazed at the tremendous generosity of the people of Rockaway. At Thanksgiving this year the Parish of St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude was able to assist hundreds of families and individuals thanks to the support we receive from so many in our community. More ... Dear Editor, I attended the two meetings that were held concerning the reinstatement of the tolls on the Cross Bay Bridge for Rockaway and Broad Channel residents. The fact that the new board took the time to keep the residents informed is quite considerate. We have been in the dark for a long time. Finally there seems to be some light. More ... I have known Mike Honan for at least 25 years. I too have names for him - names like veteran, patriot and friend. Never in all the years I've known him have I ever heard him utter anything bigoted or racist. More ... However, those in attendance were extremely educated and prepared to confront the moderator of the meeting in matters affecting our community. More ... Dear Editor, Who's the bigot? I will never back down from my desire to safeguard our country or in challenging the motives of any special interest group or politician. My response to Michael Schwartzman is very simple, to wit: don't let your evident bias and prejudices detract from speaking the truth. More ... Dear Editor, Now there's a surprise! Rockaway loses its bid to maintain a toll-free connection to the mainland. We're already forced into paying Manhattan gas prices and shopping in the priciest Waldbaum's in the tri-state area. Why would I expect less from the M.T.A. on this matter? More ... |
