Honors Peterson And Gard

Peninsula Hospital Center and Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (PCECR) pay honor each quarter to two distinctive individuals as their "Employees of Excellence." These special employees are singled out for their high degree of professionalism, respect and initiative, and for the dedication and empathy that they routinely demonstrate in the performance of their duties. Each honoree has been nominated by her or his peers and confirmed by committee for this distinction.

This quarter's Employee Excellence Awards were presented recently to Michelle Peterson, LPN, a nurse at the Hospital Center's Family Health Center. Michelle has been at PHC since 1980. One of the Hospital Center's medical chiefs nominated her for this employee award and that speaks highly of her level of professionalism, dedication and commitment. According to Dr. Jay K. Mehlman, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology, "Michelle consistently demonstrates professionalism - doing not only her job and her assignments but going beyond in order to assure that patient care is achieved and that each patient gets the attention, courtesy, care and concern that they need. Additionally, Michelle is highly respected by her peers at the Family Health Center. She is described as a diligent worker who is always quick to volunteer to help the physicians on duty. Michelle is so honored as this quarter's Employee of Excellence from Peninsula Hospital Center because she always makes 'that extra effort.'"

Lisa Gard, MA, DTR, a recreational therapist who works in Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation is PCECR's Employee of Excellence for this quarter. Lisa (center) is pictured with Ellen Eckleman, Director, Department of Recreational Therapy, and Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Hospital Center. Lisa Gard, MA, DTR, a recreational therapist who works in Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation is PCECR's Employee of Excellence for this quarter. Lisa (center) is pictured with Ellen Eckleman, Director, Department of Recreational Therapy, and Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Hospital Center. Lisa Gard, MA, DTR, is a Recreational Therapist who works in Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (PCECR). She has been assigned to the Recreational Therapy Department for nearly four years. In addition to her duties as a recreational therapist, Lisa is a certified Dance/Movement Therapist. According to Ellen Eckleman, RT, AD, Director, Department of Therapeutic Recreation, "Lisa encompasses compassion, professionalism, creativity, diligence, responsibility, timeliness and always follows through and tries very hard never to disappoint her colleagues or, especially, her residents." Lisa is so honored as this quarter's Employee of Excellence because she "Always manages to smile, while never missing a beat serving the residents of PCECR."

The Employee Excellence Program is designed to recognize valued employees who consistently exemplify an exceptional quality of work, the ability to work as part of the Peninsula Hospital Center team, and excellence in their interactions with patients, other staff, visitors, physicians and the community.
