Ambulatory Chemo Patients Celebrate Season
Rosemarie Zapata, RN, and Janet DePaolo, RN, OCN, hosted the annual Peninsula Hospital Center Ambulatory Chemotherapy Holiday Party last week for the patients, graduates and families of the Ambulatory Chemotherapy Department, an integral part of the Hospital Center's Cancer Treatment Program.
More than 60 graduates of the Ambulatory Chemo Department, along with their family members, joined in the holiday luncheon festivities. Each and every patient and graduate received a beautiful holiday gift package. Refreshments were delicious and plentiful, with a menu spanning Chinese, American and Italian cuisine. One and all enjoyed a beautifully decorated holiday cake prepared by the dietary staff at the Hospital Center. A special visit from Santa Claus (admirably enacted by John Ward, cancer survivor/ambulatory chemo graduate/ PHC's Volunteer of the Year) capped off the festivities. Patients and their families joined along with Peninsula Hospital Center administration and staff in celebrating this glorious holiday season. The Ambulatory Chemotherapy nurses and their patients are a family who celebrate life every day of the week. They were pleased to ring in the holidays together at this festive occasion sponsored by many of the pharmaceutical companies who supply this department.
Those who were so kind in making their contributions include Novartis Oncology, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Genentech, Eli Lilly & Co, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Glaxo Smith Kline Oncology & Acute Care, Astra Zeneca, Sanofi-Aventis, Rochville Pet Imaging, R&I Pharmacy, HD Smith Pharmaceuticals, Ortho Biotech, American Regent, Ross Nutrition and Pfizer Oncology.
