Charles J. Laine

NYC Parks Department

Charles Laine, a 60-year fisherman of the Rockaway and Broad Channel area, died December 5. He was 84.

Laine, an employee of the NYC Parks Department, was born in Brooklyn. He served in the US Navy during World War I. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, a St. Virgilus graduate and altar boy.

Laine was preceded in death by his wife, May Laine; and grandson, Bobby Laine.

He is survived by sons, Charles Jr. and Robert Laine; grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, Kristen, Kayla, Kassondra, Charlie, Jennifer, Danielle and Keith; and great-grandchildren, Daniel, Izabella, Hailie, Jared and Keira.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hillebrand Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Virgilus Church. Interment was at Holy Rood Cemetery in Nassau County.
