Join The Fight To Stop The Bridge Toll

Dear Editor,

As we all know the residents of Rockaway, Broad Channel and Breezy Point are now in for the fight of our lives to maintain the Cross Bay Bridge rebate program which allows us to get to the rest of Queens without paying a toll. We are currently planning to bring busloads of people to the Wednesday, December 10 meeting of the MTA board and need everyone who can find a way to be there. This toll is an undue burden and an unfair tax. We will be charged for going from 11693 to 11693. This is our only access to the rest of Queens. We need to be fired up and angry. We need to be heard load and clear.

We are aware that this is during

business hours for working individuals. We know that

we have come on hard economic times, but we must call on you to do your community and civic duty by taking a few hours leave from work if necessary. The cost of the tolls over the next few years will obviously be more than one day's pay. We must stick together in unity. In unity there is strength. We believe we can win.

If you are interested in joining us, please call 718-945-1216. If you want to go in on your own or will already be in Manhattan please let us know. The MTA meets at 347 Madison Avenue. The hearing on Bridges and Tunnels is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Bring signs saying "No Crossbay Tolls" and similar slogans.
