Police detectives and officers from the Emergency Service Unit search the shooting scene for evidence. A Hammels man walking along Rockaway Beach Boulevard at Beach 84 Street on Thanksgiving eve was shot in the neck, police sources say.

Officers from the 100 Precinct were sent to the area for a call to the 911 emergency system of "shots fired."

When they reached the area, they were told that the victim, bleeding from the neck, was transported to the Peninsula Hospital Center on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 51 Street by private auto.

Cops responding to the hospital found a wounded man, later identified as Darrell Daniels, 18, of 82-02 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in the Hammel Houses complex. Police officials called a Level I Mobilization at the shooting scene, which brought officers and specialized units from all over the city to search for evidence, for any other victims and for the shooter.

Daniels would tell police only that he was walking along the street when he heard a shot and felt a pain in his neck.

Police termed Daniels as "uncooperative" with detectives assigned to find his assailant.

He was reportedly treated and released from the hospital center after being questioned by detectives.
