Touchdown Happy Legionnaires Win Pee Wee Title

The Legionnaires celebrate their victory. The Legionnaires celebrate their victory. The Legionnaires Pee Wee football team blazed through the regular season and won the Brooklyn Hurricanes Pee-Wee Division Championship (ages 10-12) over the Giants, 32-6, on Sunday, November 23 at the Aviator Sports Complex.

Running back Dennis Barnes (#1) from Belle Harbor scored two touchdowns in the first half. QB John Strehle (#9) of Belle Harbor threw a 60 yard touchdown pass and ran for three 2-point conversions. TE-Kevin Crockett (#7) of Breezy Point completed the season by catching a pass in every game. Crockett scored the final two-point conversion by catching a half-back option pass from Barnes.

Runningback Rob Desin (#20) ran for a 60 yard touchdown score. RB Billy Murdoch (#12) caught Stehle's pass for the score. Seven of the 17 kids are from Rockaway and Breezy Point. Three of the five coaches are from those areas as well.
