Flight 587 Documentary To Be Presented At Film Festival

"Flight 587 Honor," a new documentary which honors the memory of the victims of the second largest aviation accident on US soil - a Dominican Republic-bound flight from JFK airport that crashed in Belle Harbor in November 2001 - will be presented on Friday, December 5 at 8 p.m., as part of the 16th Annual African Diaspora Film Festival (ADFF).

The screening will take place at the Cowin Center of Teachers' College, Columbia University, located at 525 West 120 Street and Broadway. This film is in competition for ADFF 2008 Public Award for Best Film directed by a Woman of Color.

The 52-minute film, produced by Another JAYDEE Production, focuses on the family members of five victims. Filmed in New York and the Dominican Republic, "Flight 587 Honor" examines a number of elements surrounding the crash that the director feels had not been publicized.
