LI Bus Routes Extended Into Far Rockaway

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has provided a much needed and useful connection between Far Rockaway and the Five Towns, according to MTA officials.

The changes started on November 23, when many people rode the N31 bus through the Five Towns and connected directly to a Far Rockaway bound Q113 bus.

Toaccommodate the N31 and Q113 transfer, the N31 bus will now use Rockaway Turnpike instead of Cedarhurst Avenue between West Broadway and Central Avenue. The N31 stops along these streets have been eliminated from the route.

The stops eliminated in the change are Cedarhurst Avenue at Park and Summit Avenues, Central Avenue at Cedarhurst and Washington Avenues, and West Broadway between Linwood and Arbuckle Avenues.

The N31 bus provides service between Far Rockaway and Hempstead. The change was instituted, MTA says, for convenience and to provide a more direct connection between Queens and Nassau County.
