By Miriam Rosenberg

A Far Rockaway resident has been arrested for attempting to murder another man in Nassau County on Halloween night, The Wave has learned.

Police say that Misael Hernandez, 17, of 22-30 Mott Avenue was apprehended after he and others stabbed an unidentified man several times at 254 Lawrence Avenue in Lawrence at approximately 11 p.m. on October 31.

Police Officer Terrence Heller of the Nassau County Police Department told The Wave, "The defendant, Misael Hernandez, while with six others [who have] not yet [been] arrested co-defendants, did intentionally attempt to cause the death of the complainant by stabbing him numerous times in the chest and back with a knife causing the complainant two punctured lungs as well as a hemo-thorax (blood in the chest)."

Records supplied by the Nassau County district attorney show that Hernandez has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, gang assault in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. He is due back in court on November 28. "It [the case] will probably be adjourned," said a source at the Nassau County district attorney's office.
