Winning Week For St. Camillus Seventh Graders

After a tough first game, the Seventh Grade St. Camillus team won its next three games.

In the opener, the St. Camillus team started the season with a very exciting game against Our Lady of Hope. Our Lady of Hope came out strong and had an early lead but St. Camillus fought back to make it a 3 point game by halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Keon Dela Cruz led the St. Camillus team with scoring 6 out of his 12 points.

Through most of the 4th quarter, the teams traded leads with Mike Castellano (8 points) and Conor Ward (4 points) keeping St. Camillus close with their outside shooting. Shea Slocombe, Joe Kennedy, and Michael LaPorte played tough defense and added 2 points each.

In the final minute, Our Lady of Hope hit a foul shot to take the lead 31 to 30.

Although St. Camillus forced a turnover in the final seconds of the game, they were unable to score and St. Camillus came up one point short.

In the second game, St. Camillus came out strong against OLG and led the game from start to finish. Keon Dela Cruz scored 29 points in the victory.

Shea Slocombe dominated the boards and added 12 points. Brendan Scott, Terrence Keane, and Castellano's scoring and defense in the 4th Quarter put the game away with St. Camillus winning 47 to 32.

Last weekend, St. Camillus played two games and won both. On Saturday, St. Camillus played St. Margaret's. St. Camillus had a slow start and was losing at half-time 12-10. In the second half, St. Camillus scored 19 points and played excellent defense led by Cullen Lonnborg.

In the second half, St. Camillus limited St. Margaret's to 5 points to bring home the victory 29 to 17.

On Sunday, St. Camillus played Resurrection Ascension in their first away game. St. Camillus had a very balanced offense with Keon Dela Cruz leading the scoring with 12 points and Paris Moses adding 5 points. Slocombe and Castellano scored 4 points while Kennedy, LaPorte, Scott, and Ward added 2 points each.

St. Camillus won the game 33 to 19 to improve their record to 3 wins and 1 loss.
