Lovers Of Liberation

Dear Editor,

Lest we forget that had not racism and white cultural supremacy, primarily but not exclusively through the Klan, disrupted Reconstruction, there would have been several Black presidents in and of the United States by now.

Obama is not just the "fulfillment" of the Civil Rights agenda, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King's "dream" and the aspirations of freedom fighters, abolitionists and lovers of liberation, justice and equity. He is also the restitution of America's forgotten Reconstruction period.

Obama might be America's last chance to make good on centuries of broken promises and grandiose hypocrisies.

How soon and conveniently do human beings tend to forget certain aspects of history.
