The Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA) introduces a palette of pieces by 17 artists in "Gifted 2008," this year's version of an annual show featuring the best works of its members. Comprising a broad mix of painting, photography, poetry, poetry and accompanying images, sculpture, watercolor and mixed media, "Gifted" will run from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, December 14, at sTudio 6 Gallery of the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) at Fort Tilden.

Many of the featured artists will be on hand during an opening reception on Sunday, November 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. "Gifted" spotlights a variety of images rendered in flowing words, colors light and dark, and sculpted surfaces both smooth and coarse. The works of Madeline Braisted, Ellen Hoyt, Ludmila Vaynberg, Robert Bainbridge, Renee Radenberg, Geoff Rawlings, Amanda Francin, Igor Gushvin, Larisa Levina, Denis Macrae, Maryann McEvoy, Maureen McGuire, Penko Platikanov, Jessica Schulman, N.R. Mitgang, Joan Boudreault and Dan Guarino will be presented at "Gifted." Refreshments will be served and lively entertainment, featuring music, poetry and more, will be offered.

The RAA invites all to help welcome "Gifted." Among the events scheduled to coincide with the exhibit is the RAA's first-ever Bake Off. Set for November 22 at 2 p.m., this event combines art and the art of cooking in a new way. Entries will be accepted through November 19.
