SJEH Hosts Successful Chrysanthemum Ball

At the ball, the Development Board presented engraved crystal vases to the Humanitarian Award recipients. Walker, Jr. Bishop of Long Island and president and chairman of the Board of Managers of Episcopal Health Services; and John Gupta Chief Executive Officer, St. John's. The honorees were also presented with citations from New York City Mayor Michae Bloomberg and New York State Assemblymember Audrey Pheffer. Nearly 450 turned out for the Chrysanthemum Ball on Saturday, November 8, 2008, to support St. John's Episcopal Hospital. Hosted by St. John's Development Board, the charity ball was held at the Sands in Atlantic Beach and raised $230,000 to benefit the Hospital's emergency, intensive care and surgical care services.

The Development Board awarded the Humanitarian Award to: Daniel Leibowitz, president, Hunter Ambulance; Perla Tate, MD, attending physician, Department of Obstetrics/ Gynecology, St. John's, and president and medical director of Tate Medical Center; and Allan Ullman, member of the Development Board and president of TV Trac, Ltd., and chairman, Shoe Care Innovations.
