But the only result Far Rockaway was thinking last Sunday afternoon at home with the game on the line in the fourth quarter and a berth to the PSAL Cup Division championship was stopping Franklin D. Roosevelt's offense from getting into the end zone.

Port Richmond Rout Ends Dolphins Run
      Beach Channel had prepared all week for their quarterfinal playoff opponent knowing that they would be once again labeled the heavy underdogs. The #15-seed Dolphins, a 3-rated team designated by the PSAL, had confounded many throughout the city with their 8-0 victory over the #2 seed and 5- rated Curtis Warriors in Staten Island two weeks ago.

BCAC Shamrock Ponys lose in playoffs
      The BCAC Shamrock Ponys suffered a 39-24 loss to Glen Cove in playoffs on Nov 9. This came after a week nine, 19-6 win against East Meadow to end the season with a 4-5 record and a fourth place finish in their division. The Shamrocks traveled to Glen Cove to face a tough 7-2 Glen Cove team for a tier two Championship spot.

Rockaway Ravens Football Team Wins NFC Championship
      A week ago, two divisions of your Rockaway Ravens have won the Big Apple Youth Football NFC Championship The Mighty Mites had an epic battle with a foe against which they have not scored a point in two seasons. After four quarters of hard-hitting football, the game was tied at 0, which sent the game to overtime.

14th Annual Surf Fishing Contest
      The Sea was more than angry this day, it was downright Furious. To reschedule the 14th annual Surf Fishing contest was quickly dismissed, when my 11-year-old son Joe reminded me, we were fishermen. The ocean would not give up any fish this day and nearly dragged some of the die hard fishermen into her surf.

St. Camillus/St. Virgilius Kicks Off C.Y.O. Season
      An old-school C.Y.O. feeling returned to Rockaway on Saturday, November 1, as the St. Camillus/St. Virgilius boys provided a full day of basketball. The S.C.V. 7th Grade team opened the season with a very exciting game against Our Lady of Hope.

SJBC Angels Swing For the Fences In Awards Ceremony
     The St. John's Baptist Church Angels will hold their upcoming annual baseball awards ceremony at the church on Saturday, November 22, starting at 5 p.m. St. John's Baptist Church is located at 74-05 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Arverne.
