One hundred nurses attended the 10th Annual Distinguished Nurse Lecture Series held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Lawrence Village Country Club. The lecture, entitled "Legal Issues in Nursing" and "Compassion Fatigue: Fatigue Healing the Nurse, Self-Care Just for Me," was presented by Yolanda G. Smith RN, MSN, CCRN. Smith is also the founder and director of Holistic Self- Care: Just For Me, Inc. St. John's Development Board and 1199 SEIU RN Division sponsored the lecture.

Howard Siskind, Vice President of St. John's Development Board, spoke at the 2008 Distinguished Nurse Lecture Series held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, and said that the Development Board members appreciated the excellent nursing care at St. John's and were pleased to sponsor the event. At the Nurse Lecture, the Nursing Department honored the 2008 Nurses of Distinction (from left to right): Lynore Dupiton, RN, Vice President, Patient Care Services; Alicia Calderon, RN, Nurse Manager, Hemodialysis, and Management Nurse of the Year; Patricia Tischler, RN, Assistant Vice President, Patient Care Services; and Kerinth Afflick, RN, Tower 10, Nurse Preceptor of the Year. Kathleen Hanna, RN, Ambulatory Care Center, 2008 Nurse of Distinction, was not present.
