101 Precinct Detectives Seek Robbery Suspects
Detectives from the 101 Precinct Squad in Far Rockaway are looking for four thugs who robbed a 27-year-old Seagirt Boulevard woman at about 7 p.m. on October 21. A spokesperson for the NYPD's public information department says that the four approached the unidentified victim inside 20-42 Seagirt Boulevard in the Wavecrest Gardens complex and forced her to the ground. One of the thugs put a knife to the woman's throat and demanded all of her money and personal property. They took her property, police say, and fled in an unknown direction. She was transported to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, where she was treated and released. Three of the alleged perpetrators were caught by surveillance cameras in the building. Gang Violence Escalates Outside MS 53
Police say that there was a spate of gang related violence in and around Middle School 53 on Nameoke Street in Far Rockaway towards the end of October and the beginning of this month. On Thursday, October 30, one teen was cut badly with a box cutter and another was badly beaten with baseball bats in the vicinity of the school. The previous day, police say, there was a large fight at the school that was most likely gang-related and led to the bat beating. Three arrests were made. All of those arrested were younger than fifteen-years-of-age. Police sources are withholding their names because of their ages. Pictured, police officer from the 101 Precinct carries two of the aluminum baseball bats used in the assault.
