Aces Spark Action At Aviator Hockey Rink
     Professional Hockey came back to Brooklyn last week as the Eastern Professional Hockey League took to the ice at Aviator Sports for a game between the home Brooklyn Aces and the visiting Jersey Rockhoppers. The action was fast and furious and the large crowd of several hundred hockey fans saw minor league hockey at its best. The Aces will play several more games at the Aviator Sports venue on Flatbush Avenue, right over the Gil Hodges Marine Parkway Bridge, later this month, including a Friday, November 21 game honoring Nick Fotiu, former Hartford Whaler and New York Ranger favorite. Beach Channel Shocks Curtis In PSAL Playoff Upset
      Benjamin Burrello didn't realize the impact of the events of last Saturday until the Beach Channel Dolphins quarterback sat on his seat on the school bus. Teammates were cheering and yelling as the senior finally began to comprehend what his team just achieved on the Curtis High School Warriors' home field.

High Flying Seahorses Get #1 seed in Cup Division Playoffs
      It has come full circle for a Far Rockaway team, who after two successive losing campaigns will head to the PSAL Cup Division playoffs this Sunday afternoon as the top seed throughout the city. Far Rockaway's 30-20 home victory over Franklin D. Roosevelt last Saturday in the final regular season game upped the Seahorses record to 8-1.

CYO Basketball Season Under Way At SFDS
      The 2008-09 CYO Basketball season is fully underway with the girls having started October 11-12, and the boys this past weekend. The Subnovice girls made their CYO debut that first weekend, and after a few games against outside competition, squared off against each other this past weekend.

Girl Power! St. Francis Girls Win All Six Soccer Playoff Games
      The first round of the CYO playoffs was a big success for St. Francis soccer, especially the girls' teams which advanced five squads to the finals and two others to the semifinals. The third grade and sixth grade boys also advanced.

Rockaway Outdoors/Tales From The Wheelhouse
      At last we finally get our shot at the Fall big bass. This moon good things happened in the bay and more so outside up front in the ocean. The rips off of Breezy Point yielded some quality bass over the past week. Tuesday morning aboard the Karen Ann , Dan and friends from Philly landed bass into the upper twenties trolling and jigging.

Intramural Basketball Playoffs Heat Up
      St Francis DeSales Girls Intramurals started their playoffs this past weekend. The Rookie division started with Bishop Kearney "Green Machine" defeating a tough Fontbonne team by a score of 16-10. The Kearney offense was carried by trio of Kaite Marqardt, Lindsay DeBoer and Courtney Mc- Cool.

St Camillus/Virgilius Week 2 Basketball Recap
      It was a tough weekend for the S.C.V. 8th Grade Intermediate team. On Saturday, November 8 they faced St Stans at home and played their hearts out in a 46-40 nail-biter. The visiting team played an ineligible player who led their squad with 19 points and the game will go down as a St Stans forfeit. S.C.V.

Sorrentino Wins Queens Flag Football Championship
      After being down 18-8 at the end of the first half, Sorrentino Recreation Center's flag football team held their opponent scoreless and emerged victorious to win the Department of Parks and Recreation Queens Flag Football Championship on Tuesday.
