RBB Bike Lanes Written In Stone

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has begun converting the right-hand driving lane along Rockaway Beach Boulevard into a bicycle lane, a move that is part of the mayor's NYC2030 Plan to provide more bike lanes in the city. The plan, which did not need Community Board approval, was originally revealed in September and will feature bike lanes in both directions along Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 108 Street and Beach 149 Street. The neighborhoods of Belle Harbor and Neponsit, where the boulevard is two lanes wide in each direction, will lose a curbside lane to cyclists. The plan also includes cross-peninsula bicycle lanes on Beach 108 Street between Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Shore Front Parkway and on Beach 126 Street between Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Ocean Promenade.
