PHC Stroke Support Network
      Dear Editor, Kudos to the TBI Stroke Support Group of the Peninsula Hospital Center and Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation. Having been a stroke patient at this wonderful hospital and a stroke survivor myself, I was so elated when I was selected to be one of the speakers at the new Stroke Support Group on September 25.

Smoke Detectors Save Lives
      Dear Editor, Last weekend, two tragic fires claimed eight lives. In Manhattan on October 11, flames and black smoke in a Chelsea apartment wiped out an entire family - two parents and four children. The next day, a 12-year-old boy and his uncle died during another fire in Brooklyn.

      Dear Editor, As a resident of the Rockaways for the past 38 years, it is so disheartening to write this letter in reference to what is happening once again here. It seems as though the people in power do not see the beauty, the potential of this peninsula.

We Want Our Park Back
      Dear Editor, Over the past few days I have noticed that the gate to the Bayside Playground located on Seaside Avenue in Rockaway Park has been closed. The students from the adjoining Scholars Academy have been using it during the day yet the gate remains closed after school.

Find A Solution And Move Forward
      Dear Editor, I am so tired of reading the lopsided ranting of people like Jennifer Grady, Louis Rivera and Hazel McLean, that it makes me sick to my stomach. When my family and I decided to purchase our apartment in the Dayton Beach Park Co-op, it was because it had the amenities we were looking for as a family. The pool was just one such attraction.
