First Congregational Installs New Pastor
      The First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach officially installed Reverend Joseph F. Medlin, Jr. as the tenth pastor of the 123-year-old landmark. Pastor Medlin was drawn to the Beach 94 Street church by the diversity of its congregation, the devotion of its members and the "sense of belonging" exhibited by congregants.

Halloween Brings Ghosties, Goblins And Shaving Cream To West End
     Halloween Evening was more crowded and less contentious than in the past, residents say, as crowds of young, costumed children and their parents roamed the streets looking more for treats than for tricks, although a number of young teens seemed more interested in getting thoroughly creamed up. Local Kids Featured In Stop Violence Video
      Local children were given the experience of a lifetime as they took part in filming a music video last month. The video for "Stop The Violence," by local hip-hop group The Rhyte Hitters, was filmed at Mount Carmel Baptist Church on Beach 71 Street on October 18.

RBB Bike Lanes Written In Stone
     The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has begun converting the right-hand driving lane along Rockaway Beach Boulevard into a bicycle lane, a move that is part of the mayor's NYC2030 Plan to provide more bike lanes in the city. The plan, which did not need Community Board approval, was originally revealed in September and will feature bike lanes in both directions along Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 108 Street and Beach 149 Street. The neighborhoods of Belle Harbor and Neponsit, where the boulevard is two lanes wide in each direction, will lose a curbside lane to cyclists. The plan also includes cross-peninsula bicycle lanes on Beach 108 Street between Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Shore Front Parkway and on Beach 126 Street between Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Ocean Promenade.
