Chinese Delivery At Gunpoint

By Nicholas Briano

A Rockaway Beach Chinese food deliveryman was held up at gunpoint when he arrived to make a delivery on Tuesday. He found two men in ski masks who answered the door and demanded that he turn over his food, his cell phone and his money, police say.

The unidentified delivery driver from the Super Wok Restaurant, located at 90-02 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, got

delivery request to bring about $20 worth of food to 335 Beach 86 Street.

The caller asked the driver to bring change of a $100 bill to pay for the

17.75 order.

Knowing that the delivery driver had an unusually large amount of cash on him, the two suspects waited for the deliveryman come to the private house and ring the bell.

When he did, the victim was faced by two men wearing ski masks, one of whom pointed a shotgun in the victim's face and screamed at him to drop the food and surrender all his cash.

The two suspects reportedly made off with approximately $200 and the victim's $500 cell phone.

Detectives from the 100 Precinct Squad are investigating, and police sources say that the perpetrators' connection to the address where the robbery took place is still unknown.

Police say they have no suspects and no arrests have been made.

The restaurant's owner, who asked not to be identified, says the deliveryman was scared and that he was given the following day off. He also described the suspects as "bad people" for robbing his business.

"He asked for change of $100 for an order of only $17," he said. "The people who did this are bad people."

He is relieved, however, that his deliveryman wasn't harmed.

The owner remains angry that someone would do this.

"These guys live around here, maybe near Beach 87 or Beach 88 Street, they know the neighborhood well enough to do this."
