Ricardo Elton Brown

Ricardo Brown, a lifelong Rockaway resident, died October 27.

Brown was born in Henderson, North Carolina on February 15, 1954. He attended PS 42 and JHS 198 and obtained his GED in 1985. He served in the US Army from 1972 to 1975. He became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1991. He worked as a station agent with the New York City Transit Authority, where he devoted 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ransom L. Brown; brother, Dave Cochran Jr.; and nephew, Robert Chandler.

He is survived by mother, Lucille; wife, Barbara; children, Ricardo Elton II, Ricardo Elton III and Melissa Brown, Samuel, Mark and Brandon Green, and India Wilcox; Sisters, Deborah Chandler, Pattie and Queenie Brown; brothers, Richard Brown and James Backus; grandchildren, Rihanna and Raekwon Brown, Lasheen Eubanks, Justin Sample, Rashawn, Markel and Terrell Brown; mother-in-law, Mattie Mae Daniels; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-inlaw; godson, Larry Kelly; special cousins Ernest and John Harris; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation to be held on Monday, November 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with services at 7 p.m. All other arrangements was kept private.
