Traveling BCAC White Shamrock Peanuts Battle To Draw With Plainedge
The White Shamrocks took the road last Sunday afternoon and walked away with a tie against Plainedge, 12-12.
After allowing the much larger Bobcats to get a 2-yard touchdown, the Shamrocks scored on a fabulous sideline run by Ian Byrne for 59 yards, to make the score 6-6.
The offensive line of James Agoglia, Christian Agoglia, Matt Schmitt, James Tuohey, and Dominick Maiorano, made it easy for BCAC quarterback Jack Collins to get the hand-off to the speedy Byrne, who raced the ball in for the score.
A quick stop on defense gave the ball back to the Shamrock offense. Mike McManus took the handoff from Collins, and ran up the middle to the left sidelines for an amazing 60 yard touchdown, to make it 12-6.
McManus has scored in two consecutive games, giving the Shamrocks a much needed boost on offense complimenting Byrne. Dillon Ostrander, Patrick Murphy, and Jack Ward led the way with key blocks, enabling the back to get to the outside and safely in for the score.
The Bobcats would score from a short field with 2 minutes remaining, to make it 12-12, stealing victory from the Shamrocks.
"The Bobcats had a much bigger squad than us and we had them beat for 58 minutes of the game. I am very proud of our team. Each week we are seeing more and more of an all-around effort", coach Chris Byrne said as he walked off the field after the game.
The White Shamrocks next game will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Broad Channel Memorial Field. We hope you can come out to support us. It will be the last game of the regular season before their rematch in the Shamrock Bowl on November 8 against the Green Shamrocks.
