BCAC Green Shamrock Peanuts Battle West Hempstead
Last Saturday, the Green Shamrocks took on their biggest opponents of the year, the West Hempstead Broncos. The game was the most physical these young Shamrocks have played all year, but they never gave up and they fought the whole game.
The game started out as an offensive shootout, with the Broncos scoring on their first possession. The Green Shamrocks were not to be outdone as quarterback Luke Jackowski and Michael "Thunder" O'Connell hooked up for a 60-yard touchdown to even the score. Mike Sadowski and Tyler Strika took over the rushing game and combined for 90 total yards. Offensive linemen Philip Benoit, Tommy Corbett, Nicco Finizio, and Ryan Hanning, helped to create open holes. The Green "Machine" Shamrocks were relentless on defense. Joey Ianello, Sebastian Frieberg, Nick Galimi, and Aidan Clifford were constantly making tackles at the line of scrimmage and also had to forced to deal with Kevin Koestner, Danial Colleran and Mike Sirota. Defensive Coordinator Kenny Jackowski said, "I am very proud of the effort put forth by my guys, especially rising stars James Mangan, Billy Hartman and Anthony Ingenito."
The Shamrocks next game is this Sunday out in Oyster Bay. The game will start at 10 a.m. An important reminder: it is just two weeks away until the Second Annual Shamrock Bowl on November 8 at 3 p.m.
