Obama's Ties Make Me Nervous

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank Kevin Callaghan for responding to my letter to the Wave. I was very surprised because my wife always tells me no one reads my stupid letters. I don't remember writing anything about unnecessary wars or who voted for them. As far as leadership of which we do not have to be afraid, Kevin should have read a little deeper when he googled Obama.

There are a few ties that Obama has that make me nervous, one of which is his ties to Bill Ayers. While Obama was only eight years old when Ayers was carrying out his bombings of public buildings with his organization The Weather Underground, he has had a relationship with him over the last fifteen years. Obama met his wife Michelle while interning at the law firm of Sidley and Austin where Bernardine Dorhn, wife of Bill Ayers was associated. Both Ayers and Obama have been associated with The Woods Fund of Chicago. In 1995 Ayers and his wife hosted a fundraiser for Obama in their home to start him on his road into politics. Bill Ayers not only has bodies buried in his closet, he is a confirmed liar.

As for inferring that I have prejudices against certain religions, or races, nothing could be farther from the truth. But while we are on that subject, in 1992 while directing Illinois Project Vote, a voter registration drive, Obama achieved his goal of registering over 150,000 unregistered African-Americans in Illinois. Now if I was registering unregistered voters I would register any and all people, not just those of color.

So Kevin while we agree on quite a few things around the neighborhood we will never agree on Obama, so I will vote for my candidate and you can vote for yours. Is that not what makes this country great?

PALMER DOYLE
