SJEH To Honor Three At Chrysanthemum Ball
The Development Board of St. John's Episcopal Hospital will host the annual Chrysanthemum Ball on Saturday, November 8 at the Sands in Atlantic Beach. This year the Development Board will present the Humanitarian Awards to Daniel Leibowitz; Perla Tate, MD; and Allan Ullman.
Leibowitz is the president of Hunter Ambulance Inc and Hunter Ambulette Ambulance, Inc. and co-owner of ALL-Transit, LLC, which serves the disabled through the New York City Access-A-Ride program. He is a board member of United New York Ambulance Network and holds an ambulance committee seat on the New York City Regional Emergency Medical Service Council. His ambulance companies are the largest independentlyowned medical transportation providers in the New York/Long Island metropolitan area and an industry leader.
Tate, attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, is a native of Cienfuegos, Cuba who immigrated to the United States 38 years ago. She completed medical school in Mexico and returned to the United States for an internship at Maimonides Medical Center and a residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Interfaith Medical Center. While recognizing the need for greater education and prevention of breast cancer, she opened the Tate Medical Center and Breast Institute, at 1624 Mott Avenue, in 1995. She is actively involved in the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cuban Civic Club and as a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Ullman, an inventor, entrepreneur and businessman, has a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. He became president of Miroflector and served as the chairman of the Retail and Mall Lighting Committee for the Illuminating Engineering Society for approximately 10 years. The Illuminating Engineering Society sets the standards for lighting in the US. Ullman currently serves as president of TV Trac Ltd., a company that manufactures systems that enable programming and movies to appear on banks of televisions in department and retail stores that sell appliances. He is also the chairman of Shoe Care Innovations and an active member of St. John's Episcopal Hospital's Development Board. He has helped raise funds for its emergency, surgical and intensive care services.
