PHC Names Sussman As Director Of Surgery
Howard L. Sussman, M.D., F.A.C.S, has been named as the Director, Department of Surgery at Peninsula Hospital Center, affiliate of North Shore-LIJ Health System. The announcement was recently made by Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital Center.
Dr. Sussman has been an active member of the Medical Staff and an attending surgeon at Peninsula Hospital Center since 2005, when he opened a private practice on the fourth floor of the Hospital Center. He is a well respected and experienced Board Certified surgeon who served as Associate Director of Surgery and later as Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Medical Center.
Sussman was named Peninsula Hospital Center's Acting Director, Department of Surgery in July 2006. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his Medical Degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York. He completed his surgical residencies at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. In addition to general surgery, Dr. Sussman has an active general surgical practice.
His area of special interest is breast disease and he offers minimally invasive diagnostic procedures in the convenience of his office. He has recently moved his private practice from Rockville Centre to 123 Maple Avenue in Cedarhurst.
He will continue to see patients in his office at Peninsula Hospital Center and perform surgical procedures.
The new Cedarhurst location will make these services more convenient to the communities of the Rockaways and the Five Towns. The new location will also allow Dr. Sussman to be more accessible to the hospital and devote more time to developing surgical programs at Peninsula Hospital Center.
