Cops Seek Two In OV Assault, Robbery

By Howard Schwach

Detectives from the 101 Precinct in Far Rockaway are searching for the two men who assaulted and robbed an Ocean Village resident on September 10.

Police sources say that an unidentified 20-year-old man was waiting for an elevator at 146 Beach 59 Street. When the elevator stopped and the doors opened, police say, the two men, who were reportedly in the elevator, grabbed the victim, beat him around the face and head and then robbed him of his belongings.

The two men then fled, police say.

One of the men has been identified as Kevin Byrid, 18, of 57-15 Shore Front Parkway, in the same Ocean Village houses complex. The identity of the second man involved in the attack is unknown, police say. He is described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old, about 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.

The victim was treated for facial injuries at the scene by emergency technicians and released.

Detectives from the 101 Precinct Squad are investigating. Anybody with information should contact the detective squad at 718-868-3429 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All information will remain confidential. In addition, informants can text their information to 274637 and then by entering 8477.
