The Peninsula branch of the National Council of Jewish Women, located in Lawrence, donated a number of gift bags to the nursery at St. John's Episcopal Hospital on Thursday, September 25. The gift bags, marked for boys and girls, contained clothing and donated toys. Many of the clothing items were hand-knitted by volunteers.

SJEH's pediatric department has 25 bassinets and a high-risk neonatal nursery for premature and sick newborns, and provides a full range of medical care for children. The hospital offers the sole obstetrical and nursery service on the Rockaway peninsula. More than 10,000 babies have been born there in the past decade. They also offer childbirth classes.
